A recently released video shows the moment when Miami-Dade County deputies confronted the man who, on August 26, shot his ex-partner in the chest, the Cuban Yudaisy Salgueiro, at an apartment complex in the northwest part of the city.

The images, shared by Univision 23 Miami and obtained from security cameras and neighborhood recordings, reveal the sequence of the attack and the subsequent police intervention at the Monte Carlo Apartments, located on Northwest 72nd Avenue and 3rd Street, south of the SR 836 highway.

The video shows Javier Albriza Jara, 50 years old, breaking in armed through the window of an apartment in search of Salgueiro, 47 years old. Seconds later, the attacker barricades himself in his fourth-floor apartment, where he was ultimately confronted by the officers.

During the exchange of gunfire, Jara was killed, while his victim was rescued alive and urgently transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

According to the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), the attack occurred just before four in the afternoon, when officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots in the building. Upon arrival, they found the woman severely injured in the upper part of her body.

Yudaisy, originally from Pinar del Río and a health professional, later recounted that the attack was completely unexpected. “We were a couple who had been together for ten years, we never argued. What happened I could never have imagined,” she said in an interview from the hospital, where she stated that surviving was “a miracle.”

The shooting sparked moments of panic among the residents of the complex, who recorded the arrival of the patrols and the Special Response Team (SRT) that surrounded the building. The footage also shows the interior of the assailant's apartment after the confrontation and the evacuation of the injured.

The case is still under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), as is customary when officers discharge their weapons while on duty.

Meanwhile, Yudaisy continues her recovery, grateful to have survived an attack that shocked the entire community. "I feel at peace knowing that he will no longer be a threat to me or my family," she stated.
