The son of Cuban broadcaster Rolando Zaldívar, José Michael Zaldívar, shared a message through the Conducta project (@conductadade) to thank everyone for their support towards his father and to clarify that there is no fundraising related to the case.
"Hello, good evening, my name is José Michael Zaldívar, and I am the son of Rolando Zaldívar. I am making this video for several reasons. The first reason is to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the people who have shown support and affection toward my father, who have written and expressed concern. Thank you so much to everyone, truly," he stated in the video posted on social media.
The young man also denied rumors about a supposed fundraiser to financially assist the broadcaster, clarifying that the case is being handled directly by the Conducta project team: “I have seen many pages that have dedicated themselves to spreading false news about us collecting funds to help save my dad’s life. It’s completely untrue, it’s false, we are not raising any funds. The case is being handled directly by the guys at Conducta, for which I am very grateful to them for doing an excellent job.”
José Michael took the opportunity to send words of encouragement to other families facing difficult situations: “To all the families going through a similar process, have faith and hope. It is a very painful and sad process, but with great faith in God, you can always move forward.”
The video, shared on Conducta's platforms, has garnered hundreds of supportive messages on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. Users highlighted the son's compassionate demeanor and his calmness in the face of his family's situation. Common reactions included phrases like "You are a great son, God bless you all," "Falling is allowed, getting up is mandatory," and "Rolando was an excellent broadcaster; he will overcome this," accompanied by heart emojis and prayers.
The situation of Rolando Zaldívar shocked Cubans once again after his arrest in Miami for petty theft and possession of cocaine, according to police records from Miami-Dade County. The information revealed that the broadcaster, remembered for his work in Cuban radio and television, was imposed a bail of 150 dollars and that the images of his police record showed a noticeable physical deterioration that impacted social media.
This is not the first time that the communicator has faced legal issues. In 2019, he was arrested on charges of domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon in Miami, according to Florida public records. During that time, Zaldívar sought help through a platform to cover legal expenses and claimed to have been a victim of false accusations.
The decline in his health and the current difficult situation of the broadcaster, known for his time on the program Disco Fiesta 98 on Radio Ciudad de La Habana, have sparked a wave of nostalgia and support among colleagues and followers. Many hope that he can recover with the support of his family and the backing of the Conducta group.
