The leadership of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) in the Havana municipality of San Miguel del Padrón held a public event to return several items to their owners that were stolen during a burglary in the La Corea neighborhood.

According to the newspaper Tribuna de La Habana, the event took place in the community itself and was attended by residents, representatives of mass organizations, and officials from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT). Among the recovered items were a television, a rice cooker, and other appliances.

The joint action of sector leaders and the Technical Investigations Department (DTI) in the area "was key to clarifying the criminal act and the capture of the alleged perpetrator," the official media stated.

A neighbor identified as Juana Pérez, a homemaker, thanked the authorities for their swift action, noting that "with the essential collaboration of the community, they were able to identify the perpetrator of the crime and recover the stolen goods."

In the images shared by Tribuna, neighbors can be seen gathered in front of a house with a Cuban flag hanging from the facade, while agents and officials from MININT display the recovered items, which are placed on chairs and concrete blocks.

This type of public act is not an isolated incident in Cuba. Last March, in the province of Pinar del Río, the police organized a similar ceremony to return a few pounds of meat to a citizen after his entire pig was stolen, an event that sparked incredulous comments on social media.

Months later, in Santiago de Cuba, the MININT held another political event to return seven stolen motorcycles, as part of the so-called “National Campaign against Crime and Illegalities.”

In Sancti Spíritus, a similar ceremony was organized to return an electric hot plate and two remote controls to a 73-year-old woman, and in the province of Granma the MININT held a public event to return 500,000 pesos to a citizen following a theft, in the presence of neighbors and cameras.

These acts, promoted by state media and profiles aligned with the regime, have become frequent as part of the official strategy to showcase results in the fight against crime, despite the rise in thefts and the perception of insecurity on the streets.
