Osmar González, the young Cuban who went viral on social media for delivering Amazon packages with just one leg, has launched a fundraising campaign to get a prosthesis that will allow him to improve his mobility and quality of life.

“Due to an accident I had at the age of three, in which I unfortunately lost a leg, I need a prosthesis that will help me regain my quality of life and carry out daily activities normally,” Osmar explained in his message published on the GoFundMe page titled “Help to Get My Prosthesis”.

The Cuban who emigrated to the United States three years ago currently works at two jobs to support himself: in the mornings, he irons at a dry cleaner and in the afternoons delivers Amazon packages.

Despite his disability, Osmar navigates the streets, constantly getting in and out of the vehicle, delivering up to 40 packages a day.

Amazon users themselves began sharing videos from their surveillance cameras showing the young man carrying heavy boxes or going up stairs to deliver packages, which moved thousands on social media.

"I'm exhausted, but I keep pushing forward," Osmar commented in a statement to journalist Javier Díaz.

The accident that marked his life occurred in his hometown of Santiago de Cuba when he was just three years old.

"The truck driver ran over me, backed up and then drove forward again, and shattered my leg. Since then, I have been living with this condition," he recounted.

However, their story is not one of resignation, but of overcoming and hope.

Osmar assures that a modern prosthesis would change his life completely.

“I have been researching and prices range from 40 thousand to 50 thousand dollars. I don’t have the resources, but with the help of people, I know I will be able to achieve it,” he explains in the campaign.

"I just want to go back to working more easily, practicing sports, and having a normal life," he stated.

The young man thanks everyone who has shared his story or contributed to the fundraiser.

"Any contribution, no matter how small, will help me get closer to my goal. If you can't donate, sharing this campaign will also be a great help. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support and solidarity," he wrote.

His story has touched the hearts of hundreds of users on social media, especially among members of the Cuban community in exile, who have started to share his story under the slogan #FuerzaOsmar.

"You are an example of perseverance. Don’t give up, we Cubans are with you," commented a user on Facebook.

The campaign for Osmar has already raised $22,400 out of a goal of $50,000, which is the cost of a prosthesis in the United States.

Their story reflects the fighting spirit of thousands of Cuban emigrants who, despite the hardships, work hard in the face of physical limitations and strive to move forward.
