Sandro Castro in front of images of a ruined Havana: "Your magic is unique."

Sandro Castro, grandson of the late dictator, ignores the Cuban reality by glorifying a crumbling Havana. His post has drawn criticism for its disconnection and empty promises of change.

Sandro Castro, the granddaughter influencer of the deceased dictator, has once again shown her detachment from the Cuban reality by sharing images of a crumbling Havana in a post to praise the “unique” magic of Cuba.

“It's impossible to stop loving you and carrying you in my heart Cuba, your magic is unique,” wrote on Instagram the member of the Castro clan.

Despite their words, the images reveal something other than magic—pictures of Monte Street, Old Havana, the area around the Capitol, where destruction and precariousness prevail.

The comments on Castro's post reflect the feelings of sadness and helplessness that this testimony from Havana evokes in Cubans.

"If things were different, many of us Cubans would return to our home," wrote an internet user.

"Your family expropriated everything; took over everything, destroyed everything... Many trusted in their promises and were left with nothing, and those who didn’t trust had to flee their own country, leaving behind much more than family... Someday I think you'll raise your voice; I'm sure you think like I do, and like all the youth. It's just that the surname compels you to look the other way," said another.

A Cuban asked Sandro that “if you love her so much, then talk to your relatives and see if they can change the narrative, because all that is talked about is misery and diseases.”

"Oh, Sandrito, there is no magic left if your uncle Canel were to leave, and everything would change and the magic would return, but no way, my boy, your grandfather closed it down; there’s no forgiveness from God," lamented another.

The Chosen of God

Recently, the businessman and influencer sparked controversy again with the release of the latest episode of his miniseries El Hoyo, where he presents himself as “the chosen one” of God to transform the reality of Cuba.

In the video, a character dressed as God visits Sandro's grave and resurrects him as El Vampirach, symbolizing a new phase supposedly of change and awareness in the world.

After his resurrection, Sandro delivers a speech with a messianic tone, blending spiritual messages and social critiques, interspersed with several mispronounced words and disjointed ideas.

"Let us cease with ambition and selfishness. Let us create a world where everyone can fulfill their desires, respecting the freedom of thought," he expressed.

It asks Cubans to lower their expectations and settle for small things. "Why do you want a big house if you always sleep in the same room? Why do you want the car of the year if what makes you happy is taking your pet out to relieve itself?"

He also urged the people to maintain unity, as his dictator grandfather used to do: "I only ask you to be more united than ever, with a firm step, a brave heart, and a cool mind." The video concludes with a pose that mimics the statue of José Martí in Parque Central in Havana.

Fidel Castro's grandson also announced that he will launch his own exchange rate and revealed a design indicating that he will call it: "Vampicach."

The influencer accused the independent medium El Toque of making “over 100 million dollars in a single day” following the rise of the dollar in the Cuban informal market.

Additionally, he announced a set of measures he intends to implement to unite private entrepreneurs in Cuba and curb the rise of the dollar's price in the country's informal market.
