The Cuban Luis Mario González shared a message on social media that reflects the situation currently experienced on the island: the constant blackouts, the scarcity, and the lack of responses from the regime.
In his post on Facebook, addressed “to the president and the ministers,” the father expressed the anguish that thousands of Cuban families are experiencing, who face darkness, heat, and hunger every night.
“Could you tell us how to maintain equanimity and the right mindset to explain to our children that there is no food until the electricity is restored, because we parents have just fulfilled our duty of working and didn’t have time to cook,” wrote González, describing the daily struggles of Cuban households, which rely on electricity even for preparing meals.
The father, visibly overwhelmed, questioned the indifference of the authorities, pointing out the inequality between those in power and the people: “Would they allow us to go to their homes that have power generators so that our children can rest without being bothered by mosquitoes and not get sick?”
He also denounced the contrast with the hotels where —he said— there is food and comfort, while ordinary Cubans face increasingly extreme shortages every day.
González clarified that his claim does not seek political confrontation, but rather to express the exhaustion of a people who "can no longer tolerate it".
"Don't ask us for more patience, because we quickly lose it for the sake of our children... If you can't manage this country, if you can't save what little is left of it, don't sink us or kill us in the attempt. Freedom to live with dignity is what we want," she concluded.
The message reflects the growing social unrest in Cuba, where prolonged blackouts, food shortages, and inflation are suffocating families.
Publications like González's are multiplying on social media, where Cubans denounce a reality marked by economic collapse and the regime of Miguel Díaz-Canel's inability to provide real solutions.
