A Cuban was arrested and is facing charges for assaulting his ex-girlfriend in Miami-Dade County, authorities reported.

Néstor Ángel García, 51 years old, was arrested by agents of the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) on December 19 in Homestead, accused of assaulting his ex-partner, with whom he had a romantic relationship for about two years, until they separated approximately three weeks ago after having lived together.

The arrest report, cited by the television channel Local 10 News, includes the complaint of García's ex-girlfriend regarding the assault she suffered at the hands of the man.

The woman stated that after leaving her job, she went to where her car was parked, and when she was opening the driver's side door, García grabbed her from behind, snatched her cell phone, and demanded that she give him the password.

According to the police report, she managed to convince him to leave the place where he works and head to a nearby parking lot, but there, García became violent.

The victim reported that García got out of his vehicle, opened the driver's door, and took the keys from the ignition. Then, the man put his forearm around her neck and hit her in the face, the right leg, and the right arm with his hand and elbow.

According to the arrest report, after the assault, the woman jumped into the passenger seat, García grabbed her bag, and she exited the vehicle.

Then, they both argued, and the man agreed to return her bag and phone. She drove away in her car and reported the incident to the police, according to MDSO agents.

"The victim sustained visible injuries to the face, arm, and leg, which were photographed by the detective," is stated verbatim in the arrest report, consulted by CiberCuba.

García was arrested and confined at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGK) in Miami, according to jail records. The defendant faces four charges: two for armed robbery, robbery with assault, and assault.

In his hearing before the court this Monday, a bail judge ordered him to stay away from the victim and imposed a bail amount of $26,000. The circuit judge of Miami-Dade County, Cristina Miranda, was appointed to preside over the case, reported Local 10 News.
