A new act of vandalism against an interprovincial bus was reported this Wednesday on the stretch between Las Tunas and Bayamo, raising concerns about the safety of passengers on Cuban roads.

A passenger bus belonging to the mipyme PEDROCARR S.R.L. was stoned on the highway of Vado del Yeso, in the section between Las Tunas and Bayamo, reported the group from Facebook Transportación Habana TH.

Although no passengers or workers were reported injured, it caused material damage and alarm among those who use this service.

The incident marks the second vandalistic attack in less than a week against buses of the same private company.

Just four days earlier, another vehicle from PEDROCARR S.R.L., which was covering the Santiago de Cuba–Havana route, was stoned on the Contramaestre road in the province of Santiago de Cuba, under similar circumstances, the source specified.

So far, no arrests or concrete actions have been reported to prevent similar incidents from occurring again.

The recurrence of these incidents reinforces the perception of a growing deterioration of safety on the country's roads, where acts of crime and vandalism directly endanger passengers, drivers, and workers in the interprovincial transport sector.

In a context marked by the scarcity of mobility options and the overload of state services, each attack not only damages a vehicle but also further diminishes the already limited capacity for transportation between provinces.

Meanwhile, users continue to travel with the uncertainty that a road trip could, at any moment, turn into a dangerous experience, not due to technical failures, but because of the violence that has become normalized on the country’s roads.

PEDROCARR S.R.L., founded in April 2022 and based mainly in Las Tunas, has established itself as one of the small and medium-sized enterprises supporting passenger transportation on a national scale, even addressing deficits of the National Bus Company when fuel is provided.

Their services include interprovincial routes, shared travel, and support to state entities, which means that this type of attack has an impact that extends beyond the private sector.
