President Donald Trump stated this Saturday that Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, “are heading to New York” to face a proceeding in a federal court.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated that both "were charged in New York" and that they are already being transported to U.S. soil aboard the USS Iwo Jima, a multipurpose amphibious assault ship of the United States Navy.

According to Trump during a press conference from the White House, both were first taken to a U.S. military platform.

"They were transferred to the assault ship U.S.S. Iwo Jima and will then 'head to New York... by helicopter,'" it notes, without specifying what the final destination of the dictator will be.

This morning, Trump also published the first photograph of Maduro after his capture, which —according to the president himself— shows him aboard the U.S. military ship USS Iwo Jima.

The image was shared on Truth Social, where Trump claimed that the Venezuelan leader was being transported on that ship "to face charges."
