The U.S. operation to capture Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela —named “Operation Absolute Resolution” — was the result of “months of planning and rehearsal” and involved real-time aerial and ground intelligence support, according to statements made this Saturday by the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine, during a press conference in Mar-a-Lago alongside President Donald Trump.
In that context, it is claimed that the teams had been gathering information about Maduro —“where he moved, what pets he had… and what clothing he wore”— although this passage is not presented as a quote attributed to an official source within the text.
Caine stated that one of the American planes was hit during the mission, but "remained airworthy" and continued to operate until the end, in line with what Trump claimed that "all" the planes returned.
The general also specified that intelligence teams provided "real-time updates" to the ground forces to enable them to move "safely" in a complex environment.
He added that, at the time of leaving the country, U.S. forces encountered resistance and that there were "multiple self-defense confrontations" during the withdrawal.
In the same appearance, Caine stated that U.S. forces would remain in the region in "a high state of readiness," prepared to "project power" and "defend" and protect U.S. interests.
Trump, for his part, described that he followed the operation "in real time" from a room in Mar-a-Lago "surrounded by generals and experts," and he described it as an "extremely complex" operation, involving "dozens of planes," helicopters, and fighter jets, in addition to the alleged rapid neutralization of "steel doors" in locations deemed "impregnable."
In that press conference, Trump said that the operation had been postponed for four days due to the weather; he stated that Maduro was “in a fortress” with “security rooms” and that he was “captured in seconds.”
He added that there were no fatalities among the participating forces, although there were "some injuries."
Trump stated that he and his wife were "heading to New York," and that they were transported "by helicopter and then to a boat."
In another included note, it is mentioned that Trump posted a photo of Maduro onboard the USS Iwo Jima and stated that he was being taken to the U.S. to face charges.
