The acting president of Venezuela Delcy Rodríguez stated on Saturday that she is willing to "reach agreements" with the opposition to achieve "peace."
“No differences, whether political or partisan, can exist when it comes to the peace of Venezuela,” Rodríguez said from the state of La Guaira to the state television channel VTV, according to an EFE report.
"From our differences, we must communicate with respect. From our differences, we must come together and reach agreements," he added.
Rodríguez had asked his brother Jorge on Friday to arrange a meeting with the different political sectors in the country with "concrete, immediate results."
"Let it be a Venezuelan political dialogue where no external orders are imposed, neither from Washington nor from Bogotá or Madrid, a nationalized political dialogue (...) that is for the common good of Venezuela," he said on Friday.
On Friday, Rodríguez intervened during an event with oil workers in the city of Puerto La Cruz, where he stated that "enough with the orders from Washington regarding politicians in Venezuela."
"Let it be politics with a capital P and a V for Venezuela," declared the official, emphasizing that differences should be resolved within the national context, without external impositions.
Rodríguez's speech comes as his administration promotes a dialogue process with various political sectors, in a context where the United States, under the presidency of Donald Trump and with Marco Rubio as Secretary of State, plays a key role in the Venezuelan transition following Maduro's departure from power.
Rodríguez, one of the figures closest to chavismo, is trying to consolidate her leadership at a time when the country is facing both internal and international pressures, and she seeks to present herself as a spokesperson capable of ensuring stability while moving toward a new political order.
