A fire that occurred this Tuesday in the multifamily building located at Galiano No. 201, between Virtudes and Concordia, in the municipality of Centro Habana, caused material damage to the residents, but no casualties have been reported.

According to information from the Municipal Assembly of the People's Power of Centro Habana, the fire was controlled by the Command No. 1 of the Fire Department with the support of neighbors, which prevented the flames from spreading to other homes.

The incident highlights once again the deterioration of the housing stock in one of the most densely populated and vulnerable areas of Havana.

Many of the buildings in Centro Habana have structural issues, outdated electrical systems, and lack maintenance, conditions that increase the risk of fires and collapses.

The municipal authorities reported that the affected family received immediate assistance, although no details were provided regarding the causes of the incident or the full extent of the damages.

Fires in multifamily buildings have become frequent in the Cuban capital, where aging structures and a lack of resources exacerbate the daily danger for thousands of families.
