The words of a Cuban father, recorded amid a blackout that had already lasted over ten hours, have gone viral on social media. In the video, posted on TikTok by the user @maivisanta, the man can be heard venting his frustrations while holding his small son, who is asleep on him, in a completely dark room.

"It's been more than ten hours without electricity in Cuba and he's sleeping on top of me... I'm wondering what tomorrow will bring. People tell you not to leave, that it's bad out there, that you have to work a lot. But what about here? Is it working without electricity or raising your children in the dark?" the father expressed, his voice trembling.

The man continued his reflection, visibly exhausted and resigned:

"Without memory, without anything, without money, without contact, only with fear and hope. And still, no one looks. At this hour, they have stolen even our dreams and our future. This is not politics; this is a father holding his son, waiting for light... and waiting for freedom."

In the video description, the user wrote a phrase that summarizes the feelings of many Cubans: "No one leaves because they want to. People leave because they can't raise their families this way. Cuba without light. Cuba without a future."

The post has touched thousands of users, who left messages of support and solidarity with the father, symbolizing the hopelessness experienced by Cuban families in the face of the endless blackouts and the crisis currently affecting the country.

Power outages have become a part of daily life on the island, where the regime continues to offer no real solutions to the energy crisis. In the meantime, citizens—like this father—try to survive amid darkness, scarcity, and despair.
