The Ministry of Transport (MITRANS) announced this Friday a package of adjustments and suspensions in national and local transport services due to the current situation.
The actions include a drastic reduction of domestic train departures, the suspension of waiting lists, and limitations on worker transfers, with priority given to sectors such as health, ports, and airports.
According to the information released on the Mesa Redonda, starting at midnight this Friday, the national train service will be adjusted to one departure every eight days to each destination.
The published list includes the routes: Havana–Santiago de Cuba / Santiago de Cuba–Havana, Havana–Guantánamo / Guantánamo–Havana, Havana–Holguín / Holguín–Havana, and Havana–Bayamo–Manzanillo / Manzanillo–Bayamo–Havana.
MITRANS also reported the suspension of the current service of Waiting Lists and clarified that the Last Minute Terminals will not be in operation.
For passengers with tickets purchased for travel by bus, train, or maritime routes whose departures have been canceled and who do not wish to travel, the notice states that they must go to the nearest Ticket Sales Agency to request a refund.
It is clarified that 100% of the ticket price will be refunded up to 30 days after the date indicated on the ticket.
Local transportation: schools, workers, and prioritization of essential services
In local transportation, the ministry announced that it will adjust the transfers of students and teachers carried out by school buses "to meet the needs agreed upon" with those sectors, and that the services for special schools and medibus will remain unchanged.
Moreover, the suspension of daily worker transfers carried out by ETT (TRANSMETRO) and other operators in the territories was announced, except for those related to ports, airports, and other prioritized cases. Special route services with minibuses will also continue in the cities where they are already operating.
Finally, MITRANS indicated that available electric transportation means in the territories will be utilized for primary transport related to health and other “vital” sectors.
In the case of the electric tricycles from TAXISCUBA, it was stated that they will be organized as the territories decide, but "always" ensuring compliance with technical standards and daily parking at the bases.
