The independent reporter Yosmany Mayeta Labrada reported on social media that passengers on the train covering the Havana–Santiago de Cuba route were stranded for several hours in the city of Camagüey, without receiving clear information or a solution from the railway staff, as he described in a post shared on Facebook.

According to the testimonies shared by the travelers, the only explanation provided was that the locomotive was in the workshop, with no estimated time given for resuming the journey and no alternatives for transportation offered. This situation left dozens of people, including children and the elderly, in a state of uncertainty, exhaustion, and discomfort.

In the comments on the post, numerous passengers shared similar experiences from previous trips and agreed that this type of disruption repeatedly occurs at the same point in the route. "Two weeks ago, I traveled on that train to Santiago–Habana and it just so happened that it broke down in the same Camagüey, and we were stuck for 10 hours," wrote one of them. Another comment noted, "It always breaks down in the same place, whether going or coming."

Some testimonies describe even longer delays. "I spent 30 hours on that train; I left Havana on Thursday and arrived Saturday at 3:00 a.m.," recounted a passenger. Another comment noted that one family remained "24 hours on the train" and that "the longest time was spent just waiting there in Camagüey."

Several users highlighted the impact of these delays on vulnerable individuals. One comment described how the train remained stopped for hours "without considering that there are hundreds of people waiting, tired and hungry, from children to the elderly," while another stated that when the food passengers carry runs out, "it's every man for himself."

So far, no official explanation has been given regarding the specific causes of the stoppage or the time it took to restore the service. Passengers reported that they continued waiting either inside the train or in the vicinity of the station, without accurate information about the continuation of their journey.

This new episode occurs weeks after passengers on the Santiago de Cuba–Havana train reported being stranded for hours in Camagüey without explanations or adequate conditions, a precedent that reinforces complaints about the recurrence of such situations on long-distance train journeys on the island.

On social media, many users reiterated that these delays have become common and questioned why interruptions occur repeatedly at the same point in the journey, without effective measures being known to prevent further stoppages.
