According to official information released by the Ministry of the Interior of Cuba on its Facebook profile, the meeting took place at the headquarters of Battalion 2 of the National Special Brigade (BEN), where an exchange occurred between those officials and members of that unit.
During the event, a minute of silence was observed for the fallen fighters, and the documentary "Honor y Gloria," produced by the Political Directorate of the ministry itself, was screened.
The event was presided over by Brigadier General Oscar Alejandro Callejas Valcarce, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and head of the Political Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior, alongside Colonel Marcos Rosabal Rodríguez, deputy chief of the National Special Brigade. Other leaders, officers, fighters, and civilian workers associated with the unit also participated.
According to the official version, the interventions focused on the commitment to prevent events similar to those of January 3 in Venezuela from occurring in Cuba and on reaffirming loyalty to the Communist Party and President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
During the event, Communist Party cards were presented to two combatants, and acknowledgments were given to outstanding participants.
In his speech, Colonel Rosabal Rodríguez defended the actions of the officers guarding Maduro and emphasized the determination to remain "on the front line of combat" in defense of what he described as the achievements of the Revolution.
The event concluded with a group photograph featuring the members of the National Special Brigade and the officers who participated in the protection of the then Venezuelan president.
The event highlighted the close connection between the security apparatuses of Havana and chavismo, in a context where both regimes are facing increasing international pressure.
While a transition process unfolds in Venezuela following Maduro's capture, Cuba's leadership publicly reaffirms its political and operational support for those connected to the protection of the former president, sending a clear signal about its positioning in the new regional landscape.
