Two sailors from the United States Navy were injured on Wednesday following the collision between a destroyer and a supply ship during a maneuver in the Caribbean Sea, military authorities reported.

"Yesterday afternoon, the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Truxtun (DDG-103) and the Supply-class fast combat support ship USNS Supply (T-AOE-6) collided during an at-sea replenishment," said a spokesperson for U.S. Southern Command in statements provided to Fox News this Thursday.

The incident occurred while the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Truxtun (DDG-103) was conducting a replenishment at sea alongside the Supply-class fast combat support ship USNS Supply (T-AOE-6).

The maneuver, known as underway replenishment, allows for the transfer of fuel, ammunition, and supplies without the need to dock at a port.

Two crew members sustained minor injuries and are in stable condition. Both vessels reported that they are continuing to sail safely after the incident.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, as naval authorities assess the circumstances surrounding the accident in Caribbean waters.
