The Secretary of Energy of the United States announced an investment exceeding 100 million dollars to modernize Chevron's oil facilities in Venezuela and projected a significant increase in production.

In statements made to CNN, Chris Wright stated that more than 100 million dollars will be invested to modernize and increase the crude production capacity of that facility, and noted that at a Chevron field they visited that same day, the company plans to double production in the next 12 to 18 months.

Later, on his official account on X, the official explained that he visited Venezuelan oil fields to explore ways to boost production, update infrastructure, and unlock the country's economic potential.

He added that a stronger trade will benefit both Americans and Venezuelans and contribute to prosperity in the hemisphere.

According to information published by Primera Edición, Wright made an official visit alongside interim president Delcy Rodríguez to the mixed enterprise Petro Independencia, located in the Orinoco Oil Belt, one of the largest crude oil reserves in the world.

The company, operated jointly by PDVSA and Chevron since 2010, currently produces around 40,000 barrels per day and has the potential to increase that figure as part of the sector's expansion plans.

According to that outlet, the agenda included bilateral meetings to assess investment opportunities, modernization of energy infrastructure, and the expansion of oil cooperation between the two countries.

It was also highlighted that the Orinoco Oil Belt spans more than 55,000 square kilometers and serves as a strategic axis for Venezuelan energy development.

The announcement comes in the context of regulatory changes and a closer energy relationship between Caracas and Washington, aimed at attracting foreign capital and revitalizing Venezuelan oil production.

Wright arrived in Venezuela last Wednesday on a visit regarded as strategic to advance the plans for revitalizing the oil industry of that Caribbean country under the vision of President Donald Trump.
