The U.S. closely monitors oil investment in Venezuela

The United States Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright, visited oil facilities in Venezuela alongside local authorities, in a visit that demonstrates Washington's direct oversight of the energy sector.

The United States Embassy in Venezuela announced on its official account on X that they traveled outside of Caracas with the Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright, to see "firsthand the facilities of Chevron and the Venezuelan oil fields."

He added that they are actively working to create the conditions that will drive the economic transformation of the country, for the benefit of Venezuelans and Americans.

In her own account on X, Wright noted that she visited Venezuelan oil fields to explore ways to boost oil production, upgrade infrastructure, and unlock the country's enormous economic potential.

He added that a stronger trade will benefit both Americans and Venezuelans, and will contribute to peace and prosperity in the hemisphere.

For his part, Miguel Ángel Pérez Pirela, Vice President of Communication and Culture and Minister of Popular Power for Communication and Information of Venezuela, informed on X that the acting President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, along with Wright, visited the mixed company Petro Independencia, located in the Orinoco Oil Belt.

He also indicated that Rodríguez received the Secretary of Energy at the Miraflores Palace to review an energy agenda beneficial for both nations, within the framework of energy sovereignty and bilateral relations.

The visit and the published messages demonstrate the direct involvement of the United States Secretary of Energy in the assessment of Venezuelan oil facilities and in the review of agreements related to the sector.
