A video posted by the user @anaisismaron98 has sparked intense debate on TikTok after she shared a reflection on her son and his connection to Cuba. Although she lives in the United States, the mother claims that every time the boy arrives on the island, he “changes,” as if his heart knows he belongs there.

In the video, the Cuban woman claims that in the United States her son "can have it all," but that in Cuba he finds the most important things: the grandparents, the backyard, the warmth of human connections, and that feeling of being a grandchild, running freely and laughing in a different way. "In Cuba, there is no electricity, but there are hands that await him," she says in one of the statements that provoked the most reactions.

Her words resonated with many users who identified with the nostalgia and love for family. However, not everyone reacted with empathy. Among the most viral comments was one that said, "Then just leave and stay too."

Others questioned the contradiction of living in the United States while idealizing life on the island. Some even suggested that if Cuba is where the child is happiest, he should be raised there. The creator responded to one of the criticisms by clarifying that her son has a home in both the United States and Cuba, defending her decision.

The debate once again brought to light a sensitive topic for many migrants: is it possible to deeply love one country while choosing another to live in? Amidst laughter, applause, and messages of support, the video made it clear that when it comes to Cuba, emotions—and opinions—are always running high.
