Supporters of the Cuban regime gather in Mexico and call for the resumption of oil shipments

Supporters of the Cuban regime gathered this Sunday in front of the Cuban embassy in Mexico City to express their backing for Havana and demand that the Mexican government resume oil shipments to the island.

The event, called by organizations such as the Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, aligned with the dictatorship, included music, slogans, and the delivery of supplies intended to be sent to the island, reported La Jornada.

During the rally, those present challenged the measures adopted by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, which include tariffs on countries that export oil to the Cuban market.

The protesters demanded that Mexico not yield to external pressures and maintain its support for Cuba, something that the current president has emphasized intends to resolve through diplomatic means.

In banners and speeches, the sovereignty of the island was defended and the energy sanctions imposed from Washington were rejected, although none of those present raised their voices for the more than a thousand political prisoners held by the regime in its jails.

The Cuban ambassador in Mexico, Eugenio Martínez Enríquez, came forward to express gratitude for the support and reiterated the position of the Havana government to defend socialism at the expense of the people's suffering.

In response to questions about the resumption of oil exports, he stated that Mexico has said it will support Cuba and has shown that commitment.

During the day, the Cuban medical collaboration in marginalized communities in Mexico was also highlighted, an opportunity that many doctors have taken to escape the system, and it was emphasized that the humanitarian aid recently sent will continue, contingent on logistical matters.

The protest took place in a context of energy and diplomatic tensions, as the island faces a acute economic crisis characterized by prolonged blackouts and shortages of basic goods.
