The recent days with more pleasant temperatures have led many to wonder if the cold has definitively bid farewell this year in Cuba. However, forecasts indicate that new drops in temperature could still occur.
The Cuban meteorologist Raydel Ruisánchez reported on Facebook that a decrease in a mass of Arctic air is expected to reach the national territory at the beginning of next week.
The associated cold front is expected to arrive between Sunday, February 22, and Monday, February 23.
According to the forecast models cited by the specialist, following the passage of the frontal system, negative temperature anomalies could be recorded, meaning values below the normal for this time of year.
Ruisánchez noted that the information will continue to be updated over the weekend, as the behavior and trajectory of the phenomenon become clearer.
The eventual temperature drop will depend on the intensity and extent of the cold air mass, as well as the local conditions in each region of the country.
A few days ago, another cold front that struck Cuba left very low temperatures. In Indio Hatuey, Matanzas, for example, 4.4 °C was reported in the early morning hours.
That cold wave that lasted several days also brought displays of solidarity when activists from various provinces provided food and shelter to vulnerable individuals.
