The young Spanish woman who went viral after announcing that she would travel alone to Cuba is already on the island and has shared her first impressions after three days of stay. And, at least for now, her enthusiasm has not waned.
“I have been in Cuba for three days, and it is the best decision I have ever made in my life”, Laura (@lauramonntana on TikTok) begins to say in her new video. Clearly excited, she describes the country as a “special” place, full of life, noise, and constant music. “There’s not a moment without noise. Music everywhere. A different vibe. This is something else,” she affirms while showing images of the street from a balcony.
The young woman particularly highlights the kindness of the people. “The people are really nice. Everyone smiles at you,” she comments, although she also notes that the lack of tourists in the area where she is located is striking. “A lot of people come up to you to ask for something or out of curiosity,” she explains, without it seeming to make her uncomfortable.
One of the details that has impacted her the most is the closeness between neighbors. “You step out onto the balcony and the neighbor across greets you from hers. This doesn't happen in Spain. In my reality, there's a lot of individualism. Here, people talk and smile,” she reflects.
The young woman insists that she hasn't come to experience a traditional tourist experience. "I've come to live the Cuban experience, not to stay in a hotel," she states. She also mentioned that she signed up for salsa classes and is enjoying every moment. "I'm fascinated by everything I see and hear. All the time, I want to talk to people, learn from them," she says.
To end her initial impressions, she expresses confidence in her decision: “I am very happy and proud of myself. There is nothing that compares to this.”
