A fire was reported at the intersection of 13 and H in the Plaza de la Revolución municipality, according to Roilán Rodríguez Barbán, the first secretary of the party in that area.
"Controlled fire at 13 and H. We are on the scene. Quick action by our firefighters," wrote the leader on his official profile on Facebook.
The institutional profile Hola Habana also stated: “Fire contained at 13 and H. Swift action by our firefighters. Local authorities from #PlazaDeLaRevolución are on the scene.”
The shared images show flames in the street at night and the presence of fire department personnel working in the area.
In the comments on the Hola Habana post, several users expressed concern about the repeated fires in recent days in the capital. "Hey, but is there a fire every day? How strange!" and "Fires every day????" were some of the reactions. Another internet user wrote: "This is the year of the fires, for God's sake."
Some attributed the burning of trash as a possible cause. "Most of the fires are in the dumps..." commented one user. In a similar vein, another noted, "The population is setting fire to all the dumps, the local authorities are not doing their job, and there are entire streets filled with waste that emit a bad smell, which is why there are so many fires."
There were also opinions suggesting intentionality. "It only takes one neuron to assert that all of this is man-made. Investigate the neighbors and find out who they are. What were the houses like? Why is it that there are no fires in El Vedado or Miramar?" wrote a commentator.
The fire occurs shortly after two fires were recorded in different areas of Havana: one in a multi-family building on Monte Street 67, in Old Havana, which affected four of the 22 homes in the building, and another in Central Havana, on Escobar Street between Salud and Reina. In those cases, no fatalities were reported, according to official publications and testimonies on social media.
So far, no details have been provided regarding the causes of the fire that occurred at 13 and H, nor about potential material damages or affected individuals.
The recurrence of these incidents in different parts of the city has raised concerns among residents, who are questioning what is happening on social media and demanding solutions in response to the accumulation of trash and the deterioration of services.
