The official newspaper Escambray revealed new details about the bone remains found in a sealed shelter in front of the Arcelio Modesto Suárez Bernal primary school in the Olivos II neighborhood in Sancti Spíritus, and confirmed that they do not correspond to human remains.

According to the publication, the discovery occurred when several children from the neighborhood broke the bricks sealing off the structure, which had been closed for over 15 years, and recorded video footage of bone fragments inside.

The images circulated quickly on social media and gave rise to rumors about the alleged discovery of a child's corpse.

In response to the alarm raised, forces from the Ministry of the Interior, forensic specialists, firefighters, and municipal authorities arrived at the scene, conducting a thorough inspection of the site.

Lieutenant Colonel Rolando Rodríguez Carmenate, head of the Criminal Investigation Unit in the province, explained that the preliminary review found no evidence to suggest that the remains were human.

He clarified that no articles of clothing, personal belongings, or other evidence associated with a body were found.

The forensic medicine specialist, Nairobi Puig González, detailed that the osteological analysis included the examination of vertebrae, pelvis, and other fragments, and that the morphological characteristics rule out that they belong to the human species.

He added that, preliminarily, "everything points to a canine," although the definitive identification of the species is still under investigation.

Escambray also highlighted that there is no report of a missing minor in the area nor evidence of any criminal act related to the discovery.

The authorities insisted that the investigation remains ongoing and stressed that the information available so far is preliminary, as forensic examinations continue.
