The Cuban-American congressman Carlos Giménez recalled this Saturday that the Cuban regime is an ally of Iran.

"Let us not forget that the pathetic dictatorship of Cuba actively supports the murderous regime of Iran — these tyrannies must be consigned to the dustbin of history!” said on X.

Giménez reacted to the news that the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, might be dead following the attacks launched by Israel and the United States against targets in Iran, after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated  that there are “increasing signs” that the leader “is no longer alive.”

According to media reports, there is no independent confirmation, but a high-ranking Israeli official assured Reuters  that Khamenei was killed during the attacks.

The uncertainty regarding Khamenei's whereabouts has intensified because, according to journalistic tracking, some of the initial waves of attacks struck areas near his offices, and his residence was reportedly one of the targets, although it is unclear whether the leader was there at the time.

Amid the uncertainty, Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, told NBC  that the supreme leader survived the attacks: “Almost all officials are safe and sound,” he stated live from Tehran.

In an update cited by Reuters, Netanyahu suggested that Israel and the U.S. may have eliminated Khamenei, stating that there were “many signs” that the supreme leader “is no longer here.”

In parallel, senior Israeli officials claimed that Khamenei's body was found among the rubble, a version that has also not been independently verified by neutral sources.

For his part, Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel condemned the attack.

Through the X social network, he described the events as a "blatant violation of International Law and the UN Charter."

"The attacks carried out on February 28 by Israel and the United States, violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran, constitute a blatant violation of International Law and the UN Charter," he wrote in an initial message.

In a second post, he stated that military actions “ruin for a second time the efforts of diplomacy concerning the nuclear issue and endanger regional and international peace and security. The effects that are already being recorded in that turbulent region make this evident.”

Finally, he called for a global reaction: "The international community must act immediately to stop this aggression and escalation, due to its unpredictable consequences."
