The Cuban regime requested the United Nations Security Council to urgently intervene to stop the military offensive by the United States and Israel against the Iranian regime and to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba condemned "in the strongest terms" the attacks that resulted in the death of Ayatollah Ali Jamenei, asserting that they violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran and breach the UN Charter and International Law.
Havana described the military action as an "irresponsible and deliberate" aggression that, in its view, undermines diplomatic efforts related to the Iranian nuclear issue.
According to the statement, the offensive seriously endangers regional and international peace, stability, and security.
The Cuban regime stated that the attacks have caused an indeterminate number of civilian casualties, including children, and warned of the risk of an escalation driven by hegemonic interests that could involve other countries in the region and lead to unpredictable consequences.
In its statement, the government of Havana urged the Security Council to fulfill its primary responsibility in maintaining international peace and security.
He also called on the UN General Assembly to mobilize the international community to urgently and resolutely restore peace.
The statement also defended the need to respect the principles of International Law, particularly the sovereign equality of States, non-interference in internal affairs, the prohibition of the use or threat of force, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
