Cuban-American Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar stated that President Donald Trump is ushering in a new phase in U.S. foreign policy towards authoritarian governments.
In a message posted on her account on social media X, Salazar wrote that "President Trump is writing a new manual on how to confront evil regimes."
"First Venezuela. Then Iran. And let there be no doubt: Cuba is next. The era of impunity ends when the United States leads decisively."
The text accompanied a video of an interview given to Actualidad Radio, where the legislator elaborated on her stance regarding Washington's strategy.
He stated that following the events in Venezuela, Trump has shown he is willing to confront what he described as "evil regimes."
Salazar compared Iran's role in the Middle East to that of Fidel Castro in the Western Hemisphere. "The world is divided into two: the good and the bad. It's not that we are saints, but at least we try to bring happiness and democracy to the people. These people, the ayatollahs, Fidel Castro, Maduro, Ortega, only want to oppress and drag the people down," he asserted.
The congresswoman also stated that the U.S. president has done "what no one imagined" and claimed that the results have been positive, attributing them to Trump's leadership and the support of the United States Armed Forces.
The statements come in the context of increasing pressure from Washington on allied governments of the chavista axis, while the U.S. administration maintains a stance of firmness against Havana and other actors deemed strategic adversaries.
Recently, Salazar stated that the international political landscape has changed decisively and that, following the fall of Nicolás Maduro and the actions against the Iranian regime, Cuba will be the next chapter in the end of the impunity of authoritarian governments.
In a message posted this Monday on her official account on X, Salazar stated that President Donald Trump has restored the strength of the United States on the global stage and that dictators “are no longer untouchable”.
