The violent death of a young man identified as Vilmeidis during a party in the municipality of Maisí, Guantánamo, has caused shock among neighbors and social media users, while various versions circulate that challenge or expand on the information provided by official sources.

The Facebook profile “Guantánamo y su verdad,” linked to the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), reported that authorities have identified the alleged perpetrator of the incident and are investigating two other individuals.

According to the publication, "on the night of February 28, a celebration in the locality of La Mula, part of the Sabana People's Council in the municipality of Maisí, turned into tragedy after a brawl that claimed the life of a young man identified as Vilmeidis."

According to the version reported by that profile, the incident occurred during a quinceañera party, when there was an altercation between the victim and another young man.

The text adds that the conflict between the two was not recent, as “days earlier, specifically on February 14, they had already been involved in a confrontation during a public party in the area,” which may have led to the fatal fight.

During the altercation, several people attempted to intervene to stop the argument.

However, Vilmeidis was injured with a sharp weapon, described as a knife.

After the attack, the young man was taken to the community polyclinic and subsequently referred to the hospital in Baracoa due to the severity of his injuries.

However, he died during the transfer, according to the official report.

The profile states that "in addition to the alleged perpetrator of the incident, his brother and a cousin remain detained, as they are under investigation to fully determine and clarify the unfortunate event."

The publication concludes with a message of condolence to the family and a call to reject violence, noting that incidents like this should lead to reflection on “the importance of dialogue, respect for life, and the need to build a society where peace and harmonious coexistence prevail.”

Versions from family members and neighbors question the details

After the information was disseminated, numerous comments on social media provided versions that nuance or contradict some aspects of the official narrative.

A woman who identified herself as the victim's cousin stated that the attack did not happen during a simple fight, but rather it was a coordinated assault.

“I am his cousin, and he was killed in betrayal. It wasn't as you say: one held him, and the other stabbed him,” she wrote.

Another internet user stated categorically that "it was not a fight. That was premeditated," referring to the way the attack occurred.

The networks were also filled with messages of sorrow and support for the family. A person who claimed to have studied with the young man remembered him as "a good kid" and expressed regret that "he never hurt anyone."

Criticism of the healthcare system and response time

Among the main criticisms expressed by users is the alleged delay in the arrival of the ambulance, a point that was not mentioned in the official statement.

The young man's cousin stated that "the ambulance took about two hours to arrive," something that would have influenced the limited chances of the young man being saved."

Other users agreed that the response time could have been decisive.

"If he had arrived in Baracoa faster with quick medical attention and with what was needed, he would have survived. But it took too long," noted a commentator.

Another person commented that “maybe the ambulance doesn't save lives, but a quick transfer and prompt intervention by medical staff can save many lives”, suggesting that the victim could have bled out while waiting.

There were also criticisms of the healthcare system in the area. One user lamented that "the municipalities in Guantanamo do not have a hospital, even if it's small, but with all the necessary facilities for these events."

Reactions of outrage and calls for justice

The crime has sparked a wave of outrage on social media, with numerous comments urging harsh punishments for those responsible.

"It is regrettable that events like this occur... violence is not the solution; it only leaves mourning in a family," wrote a user.

Others were more radical and demanded harsher penalties for the aggressors.

“It is necessary to implement the death penalty... no one has the right to take another person's life,” stated a commentator, while others called for life imprisonment or long sentences.

There were also those who pointed out that this type of incident reflects an increase in violence among young people. “Who will put an end to this escalation of violent acts?”, questioned a user.

The murder of Vilmeidis occurs just days after another crime that shook the province of Guantánamo.

In mid-February, authorities reported the arrest of the alleged murderer of Osniel Puentes Cueto, a 19-year-old whose body was found beneath a bridge in the town of Paraguay.
