A 38-year-old man died this weekend after falling from his bicycle off the San Juan bridge in the Altavista neighborhood on Siboney Road, Santiago de Cuba.

The information was disclosed on Facebook by journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, who specified that the victim was identified as Yasmani González.

According to reports gathered at the scene, the man was riding a bicycle when, allegedly intoxicated, he lost his balance and fell from the structure.

Initially, there were rumors about a possible violent incident, but another cyclist who was also passing through the area denied that version and claimed that González “fell on his own, without any aggression involved.”

The incident has sparked a wave of concern among neighbors, friends, and family, who describe the victim as a hardworking and close individual.

“He was an incredible man, I was his boss for 3 years and truly, he was a remarkable person, extremely respectful, a great fighter to secure his son's future”, wrote a close associate on social media.

In the same message, he recalled with evident sorrow: “Knowing that in the morning you asked my mom how I was and sent me your last goodbye. Farewell, Yasmanón.”

Another person described him as a "good friend, good son, good father," and emphasized the void his death has left: "All his family and friends are suffering immensely. He left behind a 6-year-old boy."

Other comments remembered him as a "good man and fighter" and "a sweetheart of a person."

Among the reactions, there were also warnings about the risks of driving under the influence of alcohol.

"It's very dangerous to be drinking and driving; alcohol can weaken anyone's ability, and unpleasant things happen," commented an internet user.

Family members publicly expressed their grief. "I have no words, my condolences to my family, a great loss," wrote a cousin.

Another relative expressed sorrow: “Very sad news, rest in peace my cousin, may God keep you in a beautiful place.”

Yasmani González was buried this Sunday, after being mourned by family and friends.

So far, no additional official details about the case have been provided.

The San Juan bridge is no stranger to such incidents. In May 2023, at least one man lost his life after a motorcycle fell from that same spot in Santiago de Cuba.
