The Cuban singer Eduardo Antonio, known as El Divo de Placetas, starred in one of the most emotional moments recently on "La Casa de los Famosos," as he recalled his childhood in Cuba while in tears during a conversation with his fellow contestants on the Telemundo reality show.
Visibly moved, the artist spoke about the hardships he faced during his childhood and the sacrifices his family made to support him when he began to sing.
"My dad would prepare my clothes for singing at night and would polish my only pair of shoes. Sometimes he would paint them white, other times brown, and sometimes black," the singer recalled as he reminisced about those years.
The interpreter also reflected on how much his life has changed over time.
"Do you know how many shoes I have now? And I give them away because that's just who I am," he/she commented, making it clear that while he/she now enjoys comforts, he/she does not forget his/her origins or the difficulties that shaped his/her childhood.
In the midst of the conversation, Eduardo Antonio also referred to the difficult situation many families on the Island are facing.
"I don't like to waste food... Cuba is struggling. You come across women who have nothing to eat; there are children who, in the morning, don't have a piece of bread or a little bit of milk to take to school," she expressed with sadness.
The artist's words evoked a moment of silence among the program participants, while the singer struggled to hold back tears as he spoke about the reality that many Cubans still face.
The heartfelt testimony reminded the audience of the artist's story of perseverance, who left Cuba at a young age and over the years managed to build a career in music and entertainment in the United States.
