A call for help is circulating on social media to support a family that lost all their belongings after a fire broke out this Friday in a home in Benito Juárez (central Zaza, in Villa Clara).
According to a post shared in the Facebook group of Revolico Placetas by a family member, among those affected is a 5-year-old girl, her mother, and her stepfather, and urgent assistance is requested from anyone who can contribute “in any way” to help them.
The request was posted by the internet user Yadiel Perdomo. The message reads: "Today there was a fire in a house in Benito Juárez (Zaza) and we ask anyone who can help this family that has lost everything. There is a 5-year-old girl, her mother, and her stepfather. Any assistance will be appreciated, whatever it may be. We know times are tough."
The publication includes three contact phone numbers for those wishing to offer support: 53502201, 59060946, and 50626617.
The content does not specify the causes of the fire, but it does emphasize that the family lost everything they had.
In the comments included in the document, several individuals expressed interest in helping and requested more information about the affected family, as well as guidance on how to coordinate the collection of donations.
An internet user wrote: “It’s very sad to see what has been achieved through effort and sacrifice reduced to ashes; thank God there were no casualties among the family,” a comment highlighting that no fatalities were reported within the affected household.
Other people requested additional details in order to collaborate. A Cuban asked, “Please, who is in charge and if you could provide details about the affected family, I would appreciate it.”
Another user commented: "Where is the collection of items to help?" while someone else wrote: "I want to help, how can I do that?"
There was an immediate reaction of solidarity within the community, with several people interested in knowing who is organizing the aid, where the donated items would be received, and how they can assist the affected family.
The call seeks support for the family and emphasizes that any contribution will be appreciated in light of the magnitude of the loss suffered by those affected.
A recent case that reflects the vulnerability of many Cuban families to this type of disaster occurred at the end of February, when a mother and her three children were left homeless after a fire in the community of El Alto de la Ceiba, in Santiago de Cuba.
The affected individual, identified as Arlenis López, reported on social media that the flames destroyed all of her belongings, including clothing, footwear, and school supplies.
After the disaster, the woman approached various institutions seeking support, but she stated that the response was limited and that they only offered her some basic materials to repair the house.
The case generated concern on social media and among residents of the area, who began to spread the call for help to gather donations for the affected family. The incident once again highlighted the vulnerability of many homes in Cuba and the difficulties families face in recovering when a fire destroys their homes and belongings.
