Those responsible for a brutal crime in Santiago de Cuba have been captured

Cuban authorities reported the capture this Friday of the perpetrators of the crime against José Alfonso Joa Sierra, known to family and neighbors as “El Chino”, whose body was found days earlier in his home in the Chicharrones neighborhood of Santiago de Cuba.

According to the information disseminated by an official profile linked to the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), the detainees are now awaiting the appropriate criminal proceedings.

The case had shocked the residents of that Santiago community, where, according to the report, the victim lived alone.

It was his own family members who found the lifeless body, a situation that triggered an immediate response from the relevant authorities.

Upon learning of the incident, MININT agents, in coordination with forensic specialists and provincial authorities, launched an investigative operation to clarify the circumstances of the crime and locate those responsible.

The report states that in the days following the discovery, a constant effort was maintained with the aim of "doing" justice in the case and addressing the shock generated in the community.

Official information confirms that this effort bore fruit on Friday, when it was reported that the authors of the crime had been captured.

The text does not specify how many people were detained, nor their identities, nor the specific details of how the murder occurred. It also does not clarify the causes of death or whether there was any confirmed motive beyond the theft of belongings.

In August 2025, authorities reported the arrest of four individuals allegedly involved in the murder of a resident from the community of Quintoque, in the Songo-La Maya municipality, also located in Santiago de Cuba.

According to information released on official profiles linked to the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), the suspects allegedly entered the victim's home with the intention of stealing animals from their pen. D

During the assault, they immobilized him and gagged him, causing his death by asphyxiation.

The crime occurred in a context marked by a succession of violent events in various regions of the country.

Later, in  October, neighbors in a boarding house in downtown Santiago de Cuba discovered the lifeless body of José Luis Rodríguez, known as “Jaca”, inside his home.

The discovery occurred after a resident noticed a strong odor coming from the room where the body was located.

According to testimonies shared on social media, several belongings were missing from the house, including a motorbike, clothing, and other items, suggesting that theft may have been the motive for the crime.

The incident caused dismay among the neighbors and rekindled the debate on insecurity and the rise of violent events in the province.
