The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed on Monday that the number of American military casualties in the conflict with Iran has risen to six, following the recovery of the bodies of two additional servicemen who had been missing after the initial Iranian attacks.

"By 4 PM ET on March 2, six U.S. service members have died in action. U.S. forces recently recovered the remains of two servicemembers whose whereabouts were unknown at a facility attacked during Iran's initial strikes in the region," reported CENTCOM on the social media platform X.

The agency added that "important combat operations continue in the area."

Identities under reserve

U.S. authorities stated that the identities of the deceased will not be disclosed until 24 hours after their families have been officially notified, in accordance with military protocol.

The update comes amid a significant escalation of the conflict, following the initial attacks launched by Iran last Saturday against facilities where U.S. forces were operating.

Operation "Epic Fury"

The confrontation is part of the so-called Epic Fury Operation, a joint military offensive by the United States and Israel against the Iranian regime.

President Donald Trump has described the operation as one of the largest and most complex undertaken in decades, noting that its goal is to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons and long-range missiles.

According to the U.S. administration, the offensive constitutes the largest direct military action against Iran in decades and has been justified as a response to "47 years of Iranian aggression" and what Washington considers an imminent nuclear threat.

Military operations continue as tensions in the region rise and international concern grows over a further escalation of the conflict.
