The Cuban activist Anna Sofía Benítez Silvente, known on social media as Anna Bensi, reported that she and her mother lost internet access for several hours, shortly after the latter was questioned by State Security.
Bensi herself reported on Facebook that both of them managed to regain connectivity at the same time after the period of disconnection.
"We just regained connectivity, my mom and I at the same time. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to us. God is in control," she wrote.
Hours earlier, the photographer and creator of Christian content Iván Daniel Calás Navarro had also alerted on Facebook about the situation of both.
"Cary Silvente and Anna Sofía have been completely out of communication since yesterday," published Calás, who also shared a message received via SMS asking to inform on social media about what had happened.
"Please, if you can, communicate on social media that we are completely cut off. Since yesterday, we haven't been able to connect in any way," said the message quoted by the content creator.
Calás also questioned the lack of freedoms in the country and stated that, in a system without separation of powers, both the police and communications respond to the power of the regime.
The complaint comes after the activist's mother was summoned and interrogated for two hours by State Security agents, amid pressures and warnings directed at both of them.
After the incident, the YouTuber publicly spoke out following the accusation made against her mother and asserted that the summons and questioning aimed to "intimidate her, pressure her," and "destabilize her".
According to her account on Facebook, her mother was under interrogation for two hours, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, and upon leaving, she was informed that she must return with a lawyer within five days.
However, her response was emphatic: "They won't silence me".
