The chancellor of the Cuban regime, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, sent a message of condolences to the government and the people of Ethiopia for the victims and damages caused by recent floods and landslides in the southern part of that African country.

"Heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Ethiopia for the numerous casualties and material damages caused by floods and landslides in the south of that brother country in Africa," wrote the Minister of Foreign Affairs on his official account on the social network X.

The message of international solidarity comes at a time when Cuba is experiencing a deep economic and energy crisis, characterized by prolonged blackouts, food shortages, lack of fuel, and significant challenges in basic services such as water.

On social media, several Cubans reacted to the statement from the chancellor questioning why the government dedicates messages of support to tragedies in other countries while millions of citizens on the island face daily blackouts lasting many hours and deteriorating living conditions.

The criticism occurs in a context of rising popular frustration over the regime's inability to address the structural crisis affecting the country, worsened by the collapse of the electrical system and the lack of basic resources.

Meanwhile, the Cuban government maintains an active diplomatic presence in international forums and often speaks out on conflicts or disasters in other parts of the world.
