The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that Cuban exiles have been waiting for decades for changes on the island and asserted that his administration is engaged in conversations with Havana.
During statements to the press, the leader noted that many Cubans expelled from the country have waited for years for political changes in Cuba.
"They have been waiting 50 years for what is happening in Cuba," Trump stated, referring to the Cuban community living in the United States.
The president also recounted that upon leaving Palm Beach, he saw thousands of people on the road, including Cubans and Venezuelans, waving flags of their countries and of the United States.
According to Trump, these demonstrations reflect the expectations of many exiles regarding potential changes on the island.
The official reiterated that his administration is in contact with Cuba and assured that there could be developments in the near future regarding the situation in the Caribbean nation.
