Neighbors blocked a street in the municipality of El Cerro, in Havana, in protest against the prolonged blackouts and the lack of water in the area.
The situation was spread by Cuban journalist Mario Pentón, who shared on social media the testimony of local residents and a video sent from the affected area.
According to the information, the neighbors placed buckets of water on the avenue to block vehicles as a way to demand solutions due to the lack of basic services.
According to the account shared by Pentón, in that area of the municipality, they have been experiencing power outages for over two weeks, and electricity is available for only about two hours a day.
Residents also reported that they have gone several days without receiving water, which has caused many cisterns to remain completely empty.
After the street was blocked, police agents arrived at the scene and asked the neighbors about the reasons for the protest. Subsequently, motorcycles from the Technical Investigations Department (DTI) began to arrive.
According to the circulated testimony, residents demanded the dispatch of a water truck while they remained on site waiting for a response to the situation.
The incident occurs amidst a growing crisis of services in various areas of the country, where prolonged blackouts and water shortages have caused unrest among the population.
Also this Sunday, neighbors set fire to trash at the intersection of Belascoaín and Jesús Peregrino, in Central Havana, just a few blocks away from the Ministry of Energy and Mines, amidst a new day of protests in Cuba.
The information was shared by Cuban journalist José Raúl Gallego through a post on his Facebook profile, where he indicated that the incident occurred during the tenth consecutive day of protests in various parts of the country.
