According to a report by the Cuban News Agency (ACN), the tremor shattered the calm of the night and caused alarm among the population. In the city of Guantánamo, many residents left their homes, with some descending from buildings out of fear of aftershocks.

Testimonials collected by the state media describe the tremor as "long and very strong." Neighbors in different neighborhoods alerted others to seek refuge in safer areas, especially on lower floors, a practice that has become common due to the recurrence of these events.

Social media also reflected multiple reports of visibility throughout the eastern region, where citizens shared experiences and safety recommendations.

So far, the authorities have not reported any human or material damage as a result of the earthquake.

The phenomenon occurs in a particularly complex context, marked by prolonged power outages due to the instability of the National Electroenergetic System, which increased uncertainty during the early morning hours.

This seismic event adds to other recent ones in the same area: one of magnitude 5.3 reported on March 6 in eastern Cuba and another of 5.7 on February 6, both also centered in the municipality of Imías.
