Communist groups in Kenya announced the dispatch of humanitarian aid to Cuba and their intention to travel to the island as a show of support for the regime, amid the deep economic crisis facing the country.
According to the Antifa_Ultras page on social media X, the activists not only collected supplies but also plan to travel to Cuba to accompany the delivery of aid.
The initiative complements other campaigns driven by leftist sectors internationally that aim to support the Cuban government, while the population on the island faces food shortages, power outages, and a decline in living conditions.
The reality in Cuba is becoming increasingly critical. Millions of citizens face daily difficulties accessing basic products like rice, oil, or chicken, while prices in the informal market soar well above state salaries. Additionally, there are prolonged power outages and constant failures in essential services.
In this context, international aid —even if symbolic— highlights the level of dependency to which the country has reached, where even basic needs must be met through external donations. For many Cubans, the priority is no longer political debate, but simply being able to eat and survive amidst an unrelenting crisis.
