Cuban pianist Víctor Campbell celebrated on his social media his participation in a production related to the Oscars, highlighting the journey that took him from Esmeralda, in Camagüey, to being part of the film industry in the United States.
In a message posted on Instagram, the musician expressed his excitement and gratitude for the achievement.
"I am very grateful to God... Just think about it: Esmeralda, Camagüey, Cuba, all the way to the Oscars," he wrote, summarizing the personal and professional journey that led him to that stage.
Campbell emphasized that his participation was possible due to years of effort and accumulated experiences, particularly his connection with the city of New Orleans, where he has lived for several years.
"So many things had to happen for this to be possible, and thanks to New Orleans, its people, its music," she stated.
The artist was part of the soundtrack of the movie Sinners, composed by the renowned musician Ludwig Göransson, a winner of several Oscars.
Additionally, he noted that he also participated in scenes of the feature film, which made his involvement a more complete experience within the cinematic project.
“Thank you for allowing me to contribute my little grain of sand to this ocean that is the film... I am very honored to be a part of this,” Campbell wrote in directly thanking Göransson and his team for the opportunity.
The musician also dedicated words to his family, recognizing the sacrifice and support that have been key in his journey.
"I am grateful to my mom, my dad, and my sister — so much sacrifice to get here," he expressed.
According to information published by Cubanet, Campbell began his musical training at an early age in Cuba and attended institutions such as the National School of Arts.
His connection to New Orleans began in 2012, during a summer program related to jazz, and years later he permanently settled in that city.
The film Sinners emerged as one of the standout productions at the 98th Academy Awards, where its soundtrack won an award, solidifying the project's impact in which the Cuban pianist took part.
After this achievement, Campbell made it clear that his ambitions do not stop there. "A dream come true… This has just begun," he wrote, keeping the door open for new projects in his artistic career.
