The profile "Truths Through the Mobile," linked to institutional communication in Cuba, reported on the case of a 10-month-old infant who was treated at the Eduardo Agramonte Piña pediatric hospital in Camagüey after being rescued from a situation of abandonment.
According to the Facebook post, the minor, identified as Kusum González Pedroso, was received on the 3rd in the emergency room of the hospital, after being transferred by health personnel from his area following an intervention by health and government authorities, as it was a social case.
The child was admitted to the digestive diseases ward, where a multidisciplinary team consisting of pediatricians, nutritionists, and gastroenterologists assessed his health status and diagnosed protein-energy malnutrition, developmental delay, and signs of abuse.
The publication states that during his hospital stay, the minor received specialized medical care, as well as basic care and support from the center's staff.
After 17 days of hospitalization, a favorable progression was reported, with weight gain and improvement in motor response.
The profile also highlighted the support received from the community, as well as the involvement of hospital staff in the care of the case.
Subsequently, the minor was transferred under medical supervision to the "Manuel Zabalo" center for children without family support, where he will continue to receive specialized care for his development, according to the information released.
The case was made public following a previous social media post that raised concern among users, prompting authorities to provide details about the care given and the child's progress.
