Kiasty Díaz González, a 24-year-old Cuban woman living in the United States, was found deceased in her apartment, and the official causes of her death have not yet been clarified, according to sources close to her circle.

The unfortunate news broke through a fundraising campaign launched on GoFundMe on April 1, and was shared on social media by those close to the deceased young woman and users from the Cuban community.

As of now, the date of the young Cuban woman's death and the circumstances surrounding it are unknown; the case remains under investigation.

Affectionately known as "Kia" among her loved ones, her sudden death has shocked her close circle and the Cuban community.

"With a broken heart and still trying to understand what happened, today we ask for your support to honor the life of our dear friend Kia, who was found deceased in her apartment at the young age of just 24," wrote Raúl González, organizer of the campaign on GoFundMe. "She was a person full of dreams, with a unique light that touched the lives of everyone who had the fortune to know her. Her departure has left an immense void and many unanswered questions."

González revealed that, up until the time the request for assistance was published, it had not been clearly determined what had happened, and "the uncertainty only adds to the pain of his family and friends."

He explained that, in light of this difficult situation, friends and family decided to launch the fundraising campaign with two specific objectives: to cover the costs of the funeral services and to hire a private investigator to help resolve the case.

"We are raising funds for two urgent purposes. The first is to cover funeral expenses and provide her with a dignified farewell, filled with love and respect, as she deserves. The second is to gather the necessary resources to hire a private investigator who can help clarify the circumstances of her passing and uncover the truth that we so desperately need," González stated.

The fundraising goal set on GoFundMe is $5,000 and to date, $2,183 has been raised through 39 donors. Kiasty's family and friends have asked those who cannot contribute to at least share the story, in the hope of obtaining information that can help provide an explanation of the events.

"Every contribution, regardless of the amount, represents a step towards justice and peace for those of us who cherish it. If you cannot donate, sharing this campaign also means a lot to us," concludes the text published on GoFundMe.

According to her social media, Kiasty was originally from the province of Holguín and had lived in Ciego de Ávila. No information has emerged about when she emigrated to the U.S.

Often, relatives of Cubans who have passed away in other countries turn to social media for assistance to cover funeral expenses or the repatriation of their loved ones' bodies.
