The Cuban-American Republican congressman Carlos Giménez demanded this Friday that Delcy Rodríguez, the interim president of Venezuela, immediately surrender Diosdado Cabello to U.S. authorities.

Giménez posted the message on X accompanied by the official poster from the Department of State and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) offering a reward of 25 million dollars for information leading to the capture of the Venezuelan Minister of the Interior.

Giménez is one of the most active congress members in urging the Trump administration to take a tougher stance against the Venezuelan regime.

His demand comes at a time of heightened diplomatic tension, following the threats that Giménez has not responded to with words, but with concrete actions from Congress, emphasized The Latin Times

The political context is crucial: the Venezuelan government swore in Delcy Rodríguez as acting president following the detention of Nicolás Maduro, when the U.S. special forces Delta Force captured Maduro, leaving the regime in an extremely vulnerable situation.

Meanwhile, in New York, the defense unsuccessfully tried to have the judge dismiss the case against Maduro, who faces narcoterrorism charges.

In this context, Giménez pointed out that Diosdado Cabello is one of the most powerful enforcers of the regime: he is linked to corruption, repression, and criminal networks that have destabilized an entire region.
