The Italian association La Villetta per Cuba prepared a container this Monday with medicines and essential goods destined for Havana, in a new gesture of solidarity with the island amidst the severe humanitarian crisis the country is facing, once again highlighting the regime's inability to resolve the population's issues.
The shipment includes medicines, medical supplies, clothing, children's toys, walkers, and other essential items, and will soon depart for Cuba, as reported by the agency Prensa Latina.
The association, led by Luciano Iacovino, has been sending regular humanitarian aid to the island for three decades and is supported by Lázaro Martín Díaz, coordinator of associations of Cubans residing in central and southern Italy.
The Cuban diplomatic mission in Italy, led by Ambassador Jorge Luis Cepero, supported the presentation of the container.
The Embassy of Cuba in Italy publicly thanked the initiative via its account on X: "We thank all the friends of Cuba and good-hearted individuals who contributed to this noble initiative."
This shipment arrives in the context of a serious emergency on the island, characterized by power outages of up to 25 hours and deficits of 2,000 megawatts, while the UN launched an emergency plan of 94.1 million dollars to address the situation.
It is worth remembering that on March 30, Trump effectively allowed the arrival of fuel to the island, in a move that partially eased the energy pressure.
This shipment is not the first of the year.
In February, La Villetta per Cuba completed the third and final trip of the so-called load from Terni, thereby reinforcing a long history of humanitarian support to Cuba from Italy, noted Radio Galileo.
The Italian complicity with the regime on the island has also been expressed in the streets: more than 10,000 people marched in Rome from the Roman Colosseum in a large demonstration of support.
