The Iranian consulate in Hyderabad published a video on X this Wednesday, generated with artificial intelligence, that satirizes Donald Trump and celebrates Iran's walkout on the U.S. delegation during negotiations in Islamabad, representing the latest piece of digital propaganda from Tehran against Washington. The video is going viral in Iran.
The clip shows an animated version of Trump humiliated by the absence of Iranian diplomats, in a narrative that reverses the official U.S. account of events.
Trump had declared that I will extend the ceasefire at Pakistan's request, presenting the extension as a concession from Washington. However, the reality on the diplomatic front told a different story. No Iranian diplomatic delegation has traveled to Islamabad, leaving U.S. envoys waiting without any counterparts in the Pakistani capital.
The situation worsened when it became known that JD Vance was expected to lead the second round of negotiations, a trip that was put on hold due to Iran's absence. This snub was interpreted in Tehran as a political victory that deserved to be celebrated publicly.
"This video posted by the Iranian consulate in Hyderabad, which mocks Trump for his latest extension of the ceasefire, is not as sophisticated as the LEGO videos. But it must drive Trump crazy nonetheless!" said Democratic politician Jon Cooper on X.
Cooper refers to another animated video that recreates the war between both countries in which the characters, including Trump, are Legos.
The video concludes with the warning: "Empires like yours always turn to dust," a direct reference to American military and economic power that resonates with the regime's usual rhetoric in Iran.
The use of artificial intelligence to produce political propaganda is not new in the conflict between the two powers, although it is indeed striking that it is an official diplomatic mission that is disseminating this type of content.
On the opposite side, YouTube suspended a creator from their channel on April 9 for violent content, who had gained millions of followers by satirizing Trump with AI-generated Lego videos.
The geopolitical context in which this propaganda escalation occurs is one of extreme tension. Washington maintains a U.S. naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, a pressure tactic that is costing Iran approximately 500 million dollars daily in losses due to the disruption of oil trade.
