Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and member of the Political Bureau, invoked this Thursday the words of Raúl Castro to assert that Cuba is prepared for any aggression, with the unity of the people as the "main strategic weapon."

The post includes quotes that Morales Ojeda attributes to the Army General, who reportedly stated that the organization achieved by the country to confront anything from military aggression to a natural disaster inspires "more respect than any type of weaponry."

According to the text, the true strength of the Cuban regime lies in the cohesion among the Party, the Armed Forces, and the people, forming a "shield" capable of resisting "any subversive plan."

The publication also includes a warning not to "succumb to discouragement," as only "together will we be able to eradicate them," referring to the challenges facing the Island.

The message is part of the rhetorical escalation by the regime during 2026, a year that the Cuban government officially declared as "Year of Preparation for Defense", in response to the tensions with Washington under the Trump administration.

The immediate trigger was President Donald Trump's declaration on March 28 in Miami, where he stated that "sometimes military force must be used, and Cuba is next."

Following those words, the National Defense Council, chaired by Raúl Castro, approved plans for the "transition to a state of war," and since January, Saturdays have been designated as permanent civil military training days with exercises that include AK-47 rifles, drones, and anti-tank mines.

Morelos Ojeda has been one of the main spokespersons for this defensive line throughout the year.

On January 31, he described a possible armed intervention against the Island as "an imminent risk" and stated that "surrender is not an option."

On February 8, he announced that "the Cuban people and government are not about surrender, but rather about meticulous preparation and collective mobilization."

Last Wednesday, he took to social media again to denounce the measures imposed by the United States as "a criminal act of war" and to assert that "the people of Cuba resist. With creativity, determination, and an unbreakable resolve, they respond every day in their streets and plazas."

Morelos Ojeda was also the keynote speaker at the event on April 20 in Ciénaga de Zapata, Matanzas, for the 65th anniversary of the Battle of Playa Girón, where the regime launched the campaign "My Signature for the Homeland".

This campaign, which the regime presented as a demonstration of popular support, collected more than 6.2 million signatures delivered to Miguel Díaz-Canel on May 1st at the José Martí Anti-Imperialist Tribune.

In that same event, Díaz-Canel stated before delegates from 36 countries that "every Cuban man and woman has a rifle," invoking the doctrine of the “War of All the People”, a historical concept that advocates for massive popular resistance in the face of an invasion.

The Cuban ambassador to the UN, Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, also stated on April 24 that Cuba "is prepared to respond militarily" to any aggression, amid a verbal escalation that the regime has maintained since the beginning of the year while the Cuban population faces prolonged blackouts, food shortages, and an unprecedented economic crisis.
