A Cuban resident in the United States became the star of one of the most discussed videos of the week after being recorded by her daughter while carrying a plate of typical birthday food to take to her American neighbor, who doesn't speak a word of Spanish.
The 27-second clip posted on TikTok by Klaudia Eileen (@klaudiaeileen) this past Saturday has already garnered over 372,000 views, 15,700 likes, and 327 comments.
It all starts when the daughter intercepts her mother in the hallway and asks her in surprise, "Mom, what are you carrying? Come here. What are you doing?"
The mother's response is as simple as it is definitive: "I'm going to take this to the neighbor."
The dish in question includes the classics of any Cuban celebration: cold salad, pastry, snack, and doughnut, all leftovers from Diego's birthday, a relative of the family.

Far from abandoning the tradition, Cubans in the diaspora keep it alive — and document it on social media — creating viral phenomena that resonate with the community and evoke warmth in the general public.
It's not the first time such a gesture has become a trend. Last June, another Cuban family in the U.S. went viral for bringing congrí with meat to their elderly American neighbor for Father's Day, preparing the dish without strong seasonings to respect his palate, along with the phrase: "We must share these customs, not the rudeness."
Both videos share the same essence: the spontaneous and warm gesture of offering Cuban food to an American neighbor who is unfamiliar with that tradition, overcoming any obstacles with ease and a healthy dose of humor.
