The Cuban duo Gente de Zona announced this Tuesday their participation in "United for Venezuela", a charity concert and telethon scheduled for Sunday, August 16, at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, aimed at raising funds for the victims of the devastating double earthquake that struck Venezuela in June.
Through their official Instagram account, the group formed by Alexander Delgado and Randy Malcom expressed: "Music is also a way to unite, heal, and bring hope. This time we are not just singing together... we are coming together for Venezuela."
Both members confirmed their attendance in the comments of the post. Randy Malcom wrote "We'll be there," while Alexander Delgado replied with "See you on Sunday."
The event, organized by TelevisaUnivision along with CMN, Maestro Cares Foundation, and PIMIENTO Entertainment, will feature a lineup that includes Marc Anthony, Chayanne, Ricardo Montaner, Feid, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Chino y Nacho, Jay Wheeler, Elena Rose, Silvestre Dangond, Mau y Ricky, Olga Tañón, and more than twenty additional artists.
The broadcast will be simultaneous on the TelevisaUnivision and iHeartLatino platforms, hosted by figures such as Adamari López, Don Francisco, Dayanara Torres, and Mariana Atencio, among others. Donations can be made through QR codes, text messages, or the Univision website during the broadcast.
Tickets for the concert are available at Ticketmaster.com, and the doors of the Kaseya Center will open at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, with the show starting at 6:00 p.m.
The concert is a direct response to the seismic catastrophe of June 24, when two earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 —separated by just seconds— struck Venezuela in what is considered the worst seismic tragedy the country has faced since 1900.
By the time this information was published, the official toll had surpassed 6,300 deceased with thousands of people homeless and housed in temporary shelters.
