The Goddess has set social media ablaze in recent days with a wave of statements against TikTok academies and the so-called "course sellers," those individuals who charge for teaching how to make money on the platform. Her words quickly became associated with Flor de Cuba, the most successful Cuban influencer on TikTok Shop in the United States, who runs her own academy with a monthly subscription.
The singer, whose real name is Dianelys Alfonso Cartaya, did not settle for just words: she published a comedic sketch on Instagram in which she parodies an "academy teacher" who charges $299 to reveal the great secret of selling on TikTok.
But the heavy artillery arrived in a TikTok live that became the epicenter of the controversy. There, La Diosa revealed that she herself tried out an academy for several months, and ended up paying for a personal class costing $500, and the only advice she received was to take off her face filter. "I burst out laughing because my filter is my salvation," she explained, noting that this filter generates the engagement that makes her sales successful.
His verdict was unequivocal: "Don't waste your time. Don't waste your time. I'm telling you and telling you again. No."
The Goddess went further and described the mechanism that, according to her, makes these academies so dangerous: they charge a monthly fee, offer group classes, and if the student wants personalized attention, they ask for an additional $500. Moreover, they link the student's TikTok account through a contract that includes a commission on their sales, which complicates the exit process significantly.
"The money you took from those in need... in the end, you took money from someone who has even less than they had, someone who came to you seeking help and you left them worse off," she stated.
To illustrate the problem, he invited his followers to share their experiences live. A man named Carlos recounted that he paid $500 for personalized mentorship on growth in social media and that all he heard was that "he worked in a warehouse and had overcome himself."
The unmentioned target of criticism is Flor de Cuba (Flor Danay Hernández), who runs "El Método Flor Academia" with a monthly subscription. The influencer arrived in the United States in late 2024 with only $200 and in about six months accumulated millions of dollars in sales on TikTok Shop.
The singer also took the opportunity to distance herself from the business model she criticizes: she announced that she teaches her followers how to sell on TikTok Shop for free through public videos and that she opened a TikTok account exclusively for that purpose. "That's why I started making a bunch of public videos to teach my followers for free," she explained.
As a final argument against the need to pay for academies, La Diosa pointed out that the platform itself already provides free guidance to sellers on how to improve their videos. "No one has the secret to tell you how to achieve millions," she concluded.
